Bob a word of caution and no direspect meant towards your IT prowess.

If you don't know what you are doing with regards of adding and resizing 
partitions on an established PC then I would tend to leave alone unless you 
have somebody watching over your shoulder or you don't mind losing everything 
on your hard disk, otherwise one wrong click and that could spell the end of 
that partition and all its data, been there got the t-shirt

Its completely different when you are installing from scratch as you have 
nothing to lose, if you get it wrong you can just start again.
