I either missed your original post, or I was tired enough that it didn't =
register in short term memory. Either way, welcome to Linux and the =
mailing list.
I've only been using Linux since mid-1999, but I did a 100% outing of M$ =
on my home network when I decided to begin using SuSE 6.0. My family =
grumbled (ok, a LOT) when I left them no choice but to become Linux =
users. The griping tapered off considerably when OpenOffice became =
aavailable and they could more easily exchange files with their Winblows =
using friends and co-workers.
This method is NOT for everyone, but it has worked well for us.
Your curiousity of "how it works" will go a long way toward your success =
with Linux. That desire is probably the single most necessary element. =
Right on the heels of that desire is voracious reading. As you delve =
into the various aspects of system administration and end-user =
applications you will find that there is a huge volume of information =
freely available.
In addition to your participation in this forum, I strongly suggest that =
you avail yourself of the LinuxBasics tutorial program. It will give =
you a solid base upon which to build your further exploration of Linux. =
I also suggest that you locate a Linux User Group (LUG) in your area and =
get to know some other Linux users face-to-face.
Again, welcome to the list and to Linux.
