    I had a MFC-210C at work. The manual that came with it was for the

so I think they are variations of the same model. They run Windows at
work so I don't know how it
would work under Linux.
    I found it's print speed to be slow and it's scanning speed to be
galacial.  The  print quality  was
also poor. Perhaps the 420 is better, but I'd recommend you check the
pages per minute and take a
look at something it has printed.
    I threw mine in the trash last week when it refused to believe I had
replaced an empty ink 
cartridge and then started telling me the rest of them were empty too!
They're buying me a laser.
    If you decide to get it, I have some ink cartridges you can have for
the cost of postage.
