Firefox is one good example of versions changing and being incompatible
and an exception to the rule. It and Thunderbird do a great job of
"reconfiguring" plugins. That's more of a CYA thing since they didn't
write the 3rd party stuff, but it proves that shared /home is not a
newbie quest.
