[LBo] How do I get my thumb drive to work in Kanotix?

Anita already gave you the detailed info you might need.

What I have noticed is that lately most distributions copy quite well 
with usb-storage. So chances are that your thumbdrive, mp3-player or 
digital camera are recognized automatically.

To check that, simply plug it in and turn it on. Most probably, a window 
will open in which you can see the contents of the usb-whatever.

Chances are you don't need to get into udev
