[LBo] Windows 98 Shut down

I see that today is the day Microsoft has dropped support for Windows
98. There are an estimated 70 million still using that version. I have
it at work on a P166 machine primarily used as a print server, but also
for running Word 95, Outlook 97 or 98 (I forget) and Access 95. I did
make it a Linux box for a while, but I know I need to have Windows
machines for when I retire unless Linux is more common by then.

I'm wondering how many of that 70 million who like me don't want to
spend extra money for a new machine and OS, will change to Linux. I
wonder how many of them are home users and just what exactly their
situation is. I imagine that upgrading is not a great option for many
of them.

The other related thing I've been pondering is what will happen during
this next Christmas season since Vista will not come out until after the
season is over. Will there be more computers sold with Linux?
