What make you suspect that?
Just try it: Star YaST (in the "Systems" submenu of the KDE-Menu), click
on hardware and then try it.
Then, if it fails, report back to the list, giving us the printer modell
and we can see what we can do for you.
Many printers work, but maybe not under the correct modell-name (e.g. my
HP OfficeJet All-In-One 5510 is configured as HP DeskJet 3320).

This is not a shortcomming of Linux. I blame it completely on the
printer manufactorers who think they do not need to ship their printer
with a decent linux-driver. "The community will fix it, if we don't
throw too many rocks into their way."
