I have Windows XP, Mandrake 10.1, & Slackware 10.2 installed on 2 hard disks
on my system. One half of one drive has a fat32 partition which I use for
data storage. This partition can be reached by Windows or Linux. I have the
mbrs for Mandrake and Slackware installed on 31/2 inch floppies. If either
of the floppies is not in the drive, the system will automatically open in
Windows XP. When I first installed linux on the system, I used the LILO
menu, but Windows constantly would foul up. It was Windows 2000. After I
put the linux mbr on the floppy, I didn't have any more problems. I know
that a lot of linux purists on the LBO object to doing it that way, but it
sure has been the most problem free procedure for me. However, after reading
these messages about GRUB and chainloading. I will try them.
