Hi Lynn,

What does your /etc/resolv.conf file give you?  I have this in mine;
# Generated by dhcpcd for interface eth0
nameserver 209.240.224.1
nameserver 209.240.254.1

I know from past experience that if you do not have your ISPs
nameservers listed in here, you will go nowhere. It has been about a
year since I last ran SuSE, and that was 9.1 Pro version, but the same
holds true for every distro I have used, be it Linux or windows.

While in windows, if you go to the DOS prompt and type in;
ipconfig /all
you Should get quite a list of items, and the DNS servers should be
listed. Write down this information, and when you get back into Linux,
check what the /etc/resolv.conf has listed for the nameservers, they
should be the same numbers that you copied down form the windows side.
If not, you can use your favorite editor and enter that information in
there.

I like 'mc' others like 'nano' or 'joe' and there is always 'vi' but vi
is not real newbie friendly.

HTH,
