Lynn,
This is a long shot but, when I first installed SuSE 10 I had a similar
problem and this was the way out.
I wonder if you are using Kinternet-Internet Tool to connect to your
ISP. If it is not on the panel, click the 'K' button go up to internet
and click Dial-up, that will place it in your panel.
Right-click Kinternet, you will see provider, interface, settings.
Click interface and you should see dsl0. Hit that and you should be up
and running.
