[LBo] Bloated Partitions

As some of you may remember, I told the group in the past that my Suse 9.3
was installed on a 2nd hard drive. My computer has Windows on the first
drive and Linux on the second drive. This 60 G drive is partitioned to 24
GB, which is quite excessive. Today I decided to redo the installation
and pare the partitioning down to 12 GB, still hefty but not unreasonable.

I think, though, that the extension that the partitions reside on is still
too large. I made the extension the size of the drive, while the
partitions are a mere fraction of the extension.

Does it make sense, so that other versions of Linux can reside on the drive
along side of Suse, that the extension should also be kept to 12
GB? Thinking it over, I'm now of such an opinion, but I'd like to hear
from some of you out there with more installation experience than I have.

I'm also rethinking having both KDE and Gnome as desktops. Lately, I've
used Gnome almost exclusively. Any thoughts on this topic are more than
welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Howard
