Name is Mike Sullivan and I'm 57 y/o. Aside from computers/linux my main
hobby is Ham Radio. I have been a ham for just over 40 years and my call
sign is WN5PMR. I'm from San Antonio, Tx and am once again living there
for 3 months now. Moved back here to be of assistance to my Mom. Spent
10 years in the US Army and after that the majority of the next 30 years
in Spokane, WA with a couple of stops in Colorado Springs, Co along with
stops of less than a year in Altus,Ok and Roswell, NM.
I have been playing around with computer for years now, starting with a
VIC-20 way back when. Been primarily in the MS camp for lack of any
alternative. For the last half dozen or so years I have been flirting
with various flavors of Linux. Some thing all ways managed to go blooy.
Through my ham radio connections I learned about the Hamshack Hack which
is a small distro based on Knoppix and aimed directly at Hams. I was off
and running at that point. After I moved back to SA one of my ham
friends invited me to the SATLUG meeting. That was followed a couple of
days later by SATLUG's once a semester installfest. At that point I
ended up with Ubuntu on my HP E-PC. I still am a nooby at this but am
learning and best of all it still hasn't blown up or melted down as of
yet. I signed on to take advantage of Linux Basics free course. Thats me
in a nutshell.
Mike
