SuSe (and most RPM-based distro's) are pretty bad at dependency
handling. One of the reasons I stuck with Debian years ago. In Debian
you can just tell apt-get, aptitude or synaptic to install a package
and all the dependencies will get sucked in as well.
Nowadays I use Ubuntu but from a packaging perspective it's pretty
much the same thing.
Maybe there are 1 or 2 RPM based distro's that get dependency handling
right but SuSe isn't one of them.
