Hi all,
Another intro here. I am 28, live near Washington DC and grew up
Orthodox Macintosh. I now work with Windows servers and clients (and a
few Mac clients) for a living. I have been interested in Linux for the
last couple years, but haven't really got much experience. I've played a
little with Suse and Fedora, and plan on installing either Ubuntu or
Kubuntu for this course.
I must confess that although I have a Mac at home and have had multiple
Linux boxes, I am a real fan of Windows. Mostly because I can make it do
what I need/want easily (compared to other OSes). But I am always
looking to learn something new, and I personally want to learn more
about making Windows, Mac OS and Linux play nicely with each other.
One of my goals is to be able to get my laptop (Dell Latitude D400 with
Dell OEM wireless card) to function with Linux well enough for me to use
on a daily basis for work. My main issues in the past with this goal
have been finding support for hardware (no Broadcom wireless driver) and
missing my most used applications (Outlook, Remote Desktop Client,
etc.).
Anyways, I have enjoyed reading the posts to this list today, and look
forward to hearing more from all of you.
Peace out,
Ian Ross
