Mike tentatively raises his hand to get the teachers attention.

I'm some what uncomfortable with the statement:

<http://linuxbasics.org/media//course/book/caution.gif> *Linux expects
to be networked* : Not using the network or configuring it incorrectly
may result in slow startup.

I know that in order to enhance my system and to do what I want I will
eventually be running a network. I currently have a Linux & a Win box.
Even at this point some networking to preclude having to plug/unplug my
dsl to go back/forth between the 2 machines is needed. My unease is that
I */think/feel /*that my Linux box is just as happy, works just as well
and boots just as fast or slow if it is networked or not. I think that
if your not paying attention while installing and muck up some thing in
the networking this could be a problem. But if you chose not to have
networking installed shouldn't matter this early in the process.
