I know I read something about this, but can't find it now. I did find a
couple of things about flushing or changing the MAC address. I really
know nothing about this, but maybe one of these threads will help.
Essentially, the idea is to reset the MAC address:

For the last one, on Ubuntu, I think this would go into
/etc/init.d/xinetd. They show the filename for Slackware there.
There might be other things found under "reset MAC Address" but then
again, that may not be what you need to do.
