[LBo] uninstall OS

I am looking to test out an OS for a basic PC, which I don't have my hands on yet, which is going to be a mailserver for my network. I don't think that it would be powerful enough to run a Live CD.

And secondly, I am a tinkerer, and I want to know how the partitions and disk structures work in more detail.

So if I set up a partition, say /dev/hdb3, then make a filesystem there for my test install, I would then just delete /dev/hdb3 when i am done with it? Would I need a second swap partition?

Taking your point about keeping data and OS separate, is that just a case of separating out /home to another partition?

Thanks
Dave

>This begs the question of whether you are looking for something more
>than the LiveCD's can give you. Usually, you can tell alot just from them.
