which would leave the file system as it is
the rest of the linux world seems to like it the way it is.......

or create your own distro that does this and if it has merit
they will beat a path to your download server........

If I can be bothered to simply tar up my /etc and my /home by hand
and accomplish this, why can't it be done with scripts?

or is it the admins responsibility?
