[LBo] Ubuntu crashes on shutdown

Open a terminal and do 'less /var/log/syslog'
Do '/' followed by 'restart'
This will lead you to where the system restarted. Use the back arrow to
see what lines are above that. This is where the system last closed
down. See if that helps.
If you want to send it to the list, scroll backward with the arrow until
'restart' is at the bottom of the terminal. Reply to this email and use
your mouse to highlight the lines visible in the terminal. Then bring
your cursor to the email and click on both the right and left mouse
buttons at the same time. This should copy it to the email. Get the
restart line too, so that we'll know where we are. Trim the email
getting rid of most of the previous mailings and send the email to us.
If 'restart' doesn't show up in syslog, try the same thing with syslog.0
which is back further in time.
If you want to get rid of the splash so that you can see the system log
as it is happening, let us know.
And don't change to Mandriva just yet. :-)
