True, if the person trying to break in is even remotely determined, then
ripping out the hard drive, or removing the battery from the motherboard
will get around BIOS passwords, but for casual security, it stops people
booting their own CD.  Partition encryption is probably the most secure
form of protecting a hard disc when physical access is an issue.
