qtparted is a graphical tool to resize partitions under Linux.

If it cannot handle a partition-type, it will not offer the options for 
that partitions.

Although I never had data-loss when resizing partitions, the usual 
advice is to do a backup before - which is also true for "commercial" 
tools like partition magic :)
