I wish to find out what is different on my computer in Debian and other
distributions.
Why?
Debian can configure my lan mobo chip and video so it works, while in
other distributions, I have problem with both.
I wonder what Debian configured differently than, lets say, Mepis, or
Ubuntu 6.06, 6.10 or Feisty Fawn or Kanotix.
Is there a way to check what's different?
I know that Debian recognizes and uses my lan chip as eth1 and give me
no hassles, whereas other distros recognize it as eth0 and will not get
the network working after a Windows boot. I have to do a very cold
reboot for the network to work.
So, I wonder how I can find the differences which would account for that.
Tx.
