Hello Group,
I have a box installed with Redhat Ent 4. The kernel is 2.6.9-42.7.ELsmp. It
has a SATA drive (ST3160812AS), and I/O performance is very low. Following
is the output of hdparm testing.
[root at hostname grub]# hdparm -tT /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing cached reads: 5256 MB in 2.00 seconds = 2627.09 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 12 MB in 3.34 seconds = 3.59 MB/sec
I searched on internet and didn't have much helpful info. All I get is that
the kernel supports SATA poorly, but not sure how to improve the
performance.
Anyone can shed some light on this? Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
Emen
