I meant ytalk.  I installed talkd to replace inetutils-talkd.  I also uncommented some lines in /etc/inetd.conf
Having to replace inetutils-talkd with talkd was odd but also I found that I need to use talk instead of ytalk on the command line.  Ytalk will initiate the exchange but it won't connect.
