I don't use KMPlayer or Mandriva, but I did find this interesting link.
It looks like this is a problem with KMPlayer if you use a screensaver
other KScreensaver. This person has written a short wrapper to use to
run it. Be sure to read all the comments to get the idea of what is
happening:

I did install KMPlayer just now to try it out. I see that under
preferences I can choose either xine or mplayer. KMPlayer seems to be a
front-end for these. What version of KMPlayer do you have? Mine is
0.9.4. Look in the preferences to see what it is using--mplayer, xine,
or something else.
Do you know what screensaver you are using?
You may want to try another player. I'm using Kaffeine currently and
I've had great success with gxine in the past. I do not have the
problem with the screensaver breaking in to a movie.
