Hi Allen,
I am running Xubuntu 7.04. I tried opening 'process manager', under the
systems menu, and did so without having to enter my password. However, when
I tried opening 'services', I was prompted for a password, and upon entering
the password was granted access.
My first thought would be to follow Anita's advice and verify your password
is correct. The next thing you may want to do is verify you have
administrative permissions. You can verify your permissions by going to
Applications/System/Users & Groups, then selecting your user name and
clicking on 'user privileges'. Under the 'user privileges' tab, make sure
Administer the system is checked.
As a 3rd option, you can create another user with administrative
permissions, and try accessing process manager and services.
I hope this help.
