My settings in xubuntu have been:

    * Wired Connection Address: dhcp
    * Properties: Automatic configuration (DHCP)
    * Enable This Connection checkbox is checked
    * Automatic Service Discover checkbox left unchecked
========================

A guess would be to check the Automatic Service Discover.

Also, how exactly are you checking for an internet connection?

If you know the IP address of the router, try this in a terminal:

ping ip-address-of-router

If that works also try:

route -n

Any output from that?

Also try pinging a known IP address on the internet:

ping 88.198.215.82

Or just try putting that number into the address block of your browser
instead of a URL.

Let us know what you get from these things.

Anita
