WOW, I really do not understand this love affair with the *buntu's. I
have tried a couple of them, and will run back as fast as I can to
straight Debian, EVERY time.
Allan, grab a Debian netinstall, boot up your computer using the Debian
netinstall CD and you will have your internet connection immediately,
assuming that your network card is supported. Then you install the
system and you are good to go.
This assumes that you have a high speed connection. It CAN be done on a
dial-up, but not something that I would recommend, unless you don't mind
spending two or three days downloading files for your system. However,
it does take care of the network issues that you have been plagued with.
