I just bought a Dell with a core duo processor and it's very fast. 
Looking at the specs, I also saw the front side bus on the core duo was 
faster and that's important too. You should consider how any upgrade 
would effect the battery life. You might get more bang for your buck by 
upgrading to the stick of 1G RAM.
