How many years do you want to keep that record of a pool tournament, or other 
items, Clean up the files once in a while makes it much easier to find really 
important files later.

Since it is on cd as well if you really need it you can get it back else dont 
use the delete option.

In the case of Distribution files i rsync it is really needed as i dont want 
to keep 20 versions of the Kernel, let alone other files which run into the 
100's of MB..
