[LBo] VMWare vs. Parallels

Billy,

I'm not enough of an expert to define the exact reasons. I've
only used the paid version of VMWare that I was given at a job
about a year ago. The Parallels I've used on a friend's Mac and
PC at my daughter's school, so my answer is *very* subjective. It
just seemed to work better with less fuss and load faster than
VMWare. I had it explained to me why this was so, but it didn't
set the sticky bits so it's gone.

Like a lot of things, YMMV, and it's what you are used to that
feels comfortable that counts often more than the exact quality
of the solution.

My only real point is that when seeking solutions don't select
just because something has a big name. I see this all the time.
It just happened where I'm working at the moment. They selected a
full disk encryption solution without looking at all the
potential solutions and as a result it does not integrate real
well with the rest of their infrastructure. However, there were
at least two much better solutions, one of which is being used in
exactly the same type of environment for the Spanish government
health services.

Best,

Allen
