Well, I am  not sure that there is a "right" answer for this, but here 
is my take on it.

This course is about learning Linux.  The "basics" part has to do with 
how it is teached and the level of questions allowed, not the material.  
There is a need for people to learn this, or know about this, without 
having to take "computer degrees".  We provide them this opportunity.  
We start from scratch and build from there.  Of course, some material is 
more specialized than other, but it gives the students an idea of what 
Linux is about. Very often, it leads to discussions about the 
"ungeeking" of these concepts.  People take what they need, or are 
curious about.  They leave the rest.

The goal of this is not for people to "master" all these concepts in a 
short time, in this case 2 weeks for processes. It is about introducing 
different things and allowing all their questions on it. 

And yes, this time we have split the list so that people who are 
familiar with the subtleties of processes can talk more advanced topics 
of the material covered can do it on this list.
