I received my System76 Darter Laptop over a week ago now. I love it. I
was unable to use the built-in microphone at first, but I checked on
their help site and then over to their space on Ubuntu's forums, and
found the answer quickly.
They even sent it to me via FedEx second day with no charge. I haven't
tried writing with the cd/dvd yet nor used the firewire. I hooked up a
simple USB mouse and that is fine with scroll wheel. I will be trying
Feisty Ubuntu on it in a separate partition pretty soon. They have the
info on the System76 site on how to upgrade. I think what I like best
is the strong community behind this product. I think the same sort of
thing could happen if Dell comes through with what I hear they are
doing. I think they would be wise to choose Ubuntu for the support they
are likely to get with that. But, that is another story. Personally, I
am thrilled to be able to support System76 with my purchase.
