I played around a bit with Symphony around a year ago, the Mezzo user interface
sounded interesting in the way it integrates the Web with the Desktop, but the
whole system seemed sort of beta-ish.  I hear there's a new release pending based
on Ubuntu so presumably it's seen some development since then.

E/OS is a virtualization system that provides a graphic API to allow client 
applications for any supported system to run on the host OS.  I played with it a 
bit a while back but preferred qemu.
