You may have set the "root" password on install. Typically you don't
want to be logged in as root. Maybe just long enough to create yourself
a user account.

Subject: [LBo] Password prompt

Hello all,

I'm a very newbie at linux. I'm attempting to run Fedora 8 for the first

time and it seems to load fine up to a point where it asks for a user
name and password. When I installed the program at one point it asked me

to choose a password which I did but never asked for a user name, now
when I boot up it asks for a user name and password. At this point I'm
dead in the water and can't go any farther.

Could someone please give me some help on how to boot up. The FAQ
mentions a GRUB password but being new here I have no idea what that is
or where to find one.

TAI

Lou
