As the other poster indicated, your password was for root.  Normally 
installers ask what you want for a user, too, but this seems to have 
missed it.

Check out the section called First Boot.  17.5 is about making a user, 
but I'd read that whole section since there is a lot that is important 
in it.

It probably tells you that you need to put root for the username and 
whatever password you gave for the password to login and do this section
