I have an alternate.  Red hat has donated a new set of fonts called 
Liberation which I find quite satisfactory.  With them you no longer 
need the msftt fonts package.

Mandrake 2008 are using them along with Fedora 8 of course.  I 
installed them quite easily in Debian and PCLinuxOS.
