Yes, I have an atheros too and used to use MadWifi until it quit working
I guess because of something in the new madwifi. But this has been back
about a year now. I dialoged about it on their mailing list with a
developer and we never worked it out. It might have to do with the way
the router is set up and I have no control over that. I'm using
ndiswrapper as a result.
It is a separate issue as you say. It is related in that your madwifi
drivers came with the new kernel stuff, I guess. Are you using a
package of restricted drivers like in ubuntu, or did you get the drivers
and reinstall them with the new kernel?
If you want, you can do lspci and get the exact chip info on that card.
I'll see if mine is the same and let you know.
