I might not have been clear. Nothing will get added to your new kernel.
The options will be put in the proper place in menu.lst for the new
kernel's section.  It will add it in, just as you just added it in
manually for the current kernel.  If you don't put it there, then the
new section in menu.lst will read just like it did before you did that
editing--no 'vga=791' will be there.

Yes, this is where it should go.  Was it 741?  I remembered 791.  Well,
there are several possible entries for there; so whatever you have that
works.

Great job on all this stuff, by the way. I'm glad the lower depth took
care of so many problems.  They all did sound like the video memory was
too low and that lower depth fixed it.
