Hi List!
I ran into a problem moving from Kubuntu to Slackware 12.
Following situation:
I had my Harddrive divided into 3 OS-partitions:

   - hda1, formatted to NTFS, having my WinXP on it.
   - hda2, formatted to ext3, having Kubuntu on it.
   - and hda3, where I left 8 Gig unallocated to play with Distros I
   wanna try.

I had slackware 12 installed on these 8 Gigs for some months now and decided
to move from Kubuntu to Slack. As i installed slack the first time I
lnstalled Lilo to the MBR and it handled my multi-boot system just fine.
I now got rid of the Kubuntu partition and have only a new install of
slackware and winXP left an my HD (win=hda1, slack=hda5). But because i
somehow was happier with grub, i didn't install lilo new this time and what
i tried to do is install Grub to my MBR using an Ubuntu LiveCD.
I mounted my hda1 partition which carries the MBR for i dont have a boot
partition to /mnt and tried several ways as they are described on the
internet.
I simply tried grub-install hda1, which didn't work out, but this never
worked out for me so i didn't wonder.
Next I tried sudo chroot /mnt which didn't work out either. (It says:
'"/bin/bash" not found' or something like that)
and then i tried
sudo grub
find /boot/grub/stage1 which retourned "file not found.
and when i enter root in the grub prompt and hit the tab key, it says
"possible commands: root rootnoverify" or sth like this.

i don't really figure out what i did wrong. could somebody help me?
so long
simon

ps: im just in winXP and couldn't remember the exact error messages, but if
needed i can of course boot into my live cd and send them along.
